How to install S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Anomaly

Hi! Want to play S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Anomaly, but you don't know how to get it set up and running? Well, good thing you stumbled upon my post then, huh? Anyways, without further ado, let's get straight into it. First things first, go to this link:

Then scroll down until you see a "DOWNLOAD NOW" button. Press that, and wait for the ZIP to download.

Now, you will want to create a completely new and completely empty folder, preferably in your Documents folder. Extract the ZIP you just downloaded into the newly created folder and wait until the process finishes. This may take a while, as the base game size is roughly 16 GB, so just be patient and don't touch or fiddle with anything until you're sure it's done.

After all is said and done, you will want to open up the AnomalyLauncher.exe; you can also create a shortcut for the same and put it on your Desktop; however, never, under any circumstances, move that EXE from this folder. When the Launcher opens up, configure the settings to your liking and press "PLAY."

Troubleshooting Tips

If your game crashes or you experience some other issues with the game, there are a few things you can try:

• Try fiddling around with the in-game settings and see if that helps.
• Next, open up the AnomalyLauncher.exe and check/uncheck the "Support for AVX CPU." Also, try playing around with the DirectX setting; depending on how old your system is, that may play a factor.
• If that doesn't help, go to your Anomaly folder (the one in which you extracted the ZIP), open up "appdata," and delete "logs" and "shaders_cache." Then just try launching the game again.
• Check and make sure that your GPU drivers and OS version are up to date with the newest release.
• And if all else fails, the next best thing would probably be to just delete everything and do a clean reinstall.

Just In Case

There are still a few things that aren't technically required to play and enjoy Anomaly, but they are certainly good practices to do early on so that you're set and ready to go for if and when you decide to potentially mod the game in the future.

• Modded EXEs / DLTX: This one is required by most modern add-ons to function properly.

Scroll down to the "Assets" section and download "STALKER-Anomaly-modded-exes_[release-date].zip" (instead of "[release-date]" there will be the specific date of the latest release), then extract it into your Anomaly folder; replace all when prompted. That's it; simple as that! :D

Scroll down to the "Assets" section, download, and run the EXE. The program will guide you from there on. After you get that set up, you will want to create a new instance that will be linked to your AnomalyLauncher.exe. To install mods to the game, just press the "Install from an archive" button that is usually in the top left and select the ZIP file of your downloaded add-ons. If you do download any add-ons, however, you will need to launch the game through Mod Organizer going forward, though. Just press the "Run" button when your instance is opened and enjoy!
